Inspire4Nature scientists Matt Ford and Jörg Freyhof are co-authors of a book entitled Threatened Freshwater Fishes of the Mediterranean Basin Biodiversity Hotspot: Distribution, extinction risk and the impact of hydropower.

Presentation: Updated Area of Habitat models to map global biodiversity of terrestrial mammals and birds
Fellow Maria Lumbierres did a presentation entitled Updated Area of Habitat models to map global biodiversity of terrestrial mammals and birds on 6th July 2020 during the online GeoBon Conference. Maria presented a combination of hers and Prabhat‘s work explaining how they developed a novel data-driven crosswalk between the IUCN Red List Habitats Classification Scheme and the Copernicus Global Land Service Land cover, using a logistic regression model. She also explained having fine-resolution distribution maps help guiding conservation action worldwide and having a clear view of the relationship between habitat and land cover helps us to understand the impacts of land-use change on species.
Training module: Open Access in Inspire4Nature
A training session in Open Access in Inspire4Nature took place remotely on the 24th June 2020.
The aim of this module was to ensure fellows understand how Open Access (of data and of publications) works in practice, and specifically what our obligations are in Inspire4Nature.
This training module was organised by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique.
3rd Inspire4Nature Supervisory Board Meeting
The third (regular) meeting of the Inspire4Nature Supervisory Board took place on the 11th June 2020. We couldn’t meet in person in Marseille as planned, but we still had a full day of important discussions.

Extraordinary Inspire4Nature Supervisory Board Meeting
Inspire4Nature’s Supervisory Board held an extraordinary remote meeting on the 20th April 2020 to discuss the effects of the ongoing covid19 pandemic on the project.
The Supervisory Board is the decision-making body governing the Inspire4Nature Consortium, responsible for the overall management and monitoring of the project. It is composed of one member of each participant organisation, as well as two representatives of the fellows as observers. This extraordinary meeting was convened to discuss how the ongoing covid19 epidemic is affecting the project, including effects on the fellows’ individual training programme and consequences for the project-wide training programme.
