Fellow Maria Lumbierres presented an e-poster entitled Area of Habitat maps for the world’s terrestrial birds and mammals at the Student Conference on Conservation Science, an hybrid event that took place in March 2022, at Cambridge.

(2022) Area of Habitat maps for the world’s terrestrial birds and mammals, Student Conference on Conservation Science, University of Cambridge, UKKnowing the distribution of species is crucial to direct conservation action. The Area of habitat (AOH) is the habitat available to a species within its range. We presented an updated version of global AOH maps for terrestrial mammals and birds at 100m resolution, building on a novel crosswalk between habitats and land cover. These maps allowed us to determine the global distribution of mammals and birds at a finer resolution than what could be obtained using ranges.
